Arborist Skills | Mechanical Advantage in Rigging |The Tree Care Industry Association
Переглядів 481Місяць тому
Using mechanical advantage in rigging makes lifting heavy loads easier. It works by multiplying the force you apply to the load line. This video shows a 4:1 pulley system that will move a load 4 feet for every 1 -foot of rope pulled through. It also shows the same system flipped around and rigged to a 5:1 mechanical advantage. For every 1 - foot of rope pulled through the load moves 5 feet. It ...

Aerial lift rescue is a necessary facet of well-rounded jobsite training. Set up a scenario where the bucket operator is rendered unconscious while aloft, and practice a controlled lowering of the boom. It's best to have two people "catch" the bucket when the tilt function is activated, as this video demonstrates. Be sure to read the related article by Dr. John Ball in the May 2024 issue of TCI...

    Two questions here, why can't we use en carabiner instead of a ring? And second, why not use the throw line as the retrieve line (so you can't miss which rope to climb on)? Really cool video by the way.

    • @TciaOrg
      @TciaOrg 4 дні тому

      That open loop in the anabolic alpine would not capture the carabiner enough to prevent sideloading - especially when the rope was unweighted. but you could totally use a throwline to recover your climb line. He was just using the tail end of his climb line as an example of using what is on hand.

    It's a shame the audio has so many problems. This is the reason for the option in Zoom/WebEx/etc for the speaker to record the session locally to avoid any kind of distortion and internet-related artifacts. It was a great talk, that aside.

      Elimination or even severe reduction of any one species in an eco system would likely cause long term changes in that system. Possibly even irreversible. Just my guess. TCIA_Tchukki

    Great presentation. Always helpful to see and hear about fungi common to the trees we work with regularly. I picked up a current copy of Wood Decay Fungi last fall at a local urban and community forestry conference. It's an outstanding reference.

    It might be better to state that the canopy anchor is limited to the true load and that other methods multiply the true load .

    What about tying the throwline to the bowline while using it as the choking canopy anchor? It'll leave you the entire length of your rope to work with an you can retrieve with the tied throwline to pull down the choked bowline knot when finished.
